Cars in Germany's City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Blood, Police Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers mentioned they were alerted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Roughly fifty vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.

Police say they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found multiple other smeared vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials report early analysis show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; authorities are not yet cognizant of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for information.

A high-ranking official stated the incident made him speechless and required to be solved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
